busy busy week
It’s been quite a busy week for us. I’ll post all the news when the dust settles.
We’re about to reach a huge milestone :)
f8: new developer policies
Facebook announced a critical change in their developer policies. They are taking off a data storage/caching policy that went something like this “Applications can’t store user data for more than 24h”. This basically means anyone who can put up a facebook app can store data about you. And when I say data I mean demographics, posts, friends, etc etc.. All in all, this represents...
user research: stand-by
We are taking one step back in our user research. We hope it will allow us to take two steps forward in the design and implementation phases. Apart from optimizing and automating the data collection software, we’re also re-thinking the foundations of our survey. Coming up with more focused hypothesis and questions will hopefully yield us stronger and more valid requirements for our design....

user research: update
quantitative data collection is ready. Thanks Jayant!
Meetings, meetings & meetings..
I’m back in Madeira for a week and having a lot of meetings over at M-ITI. So, expect a considerable amount of developments and some good news too.
Lorrie Cranor, a privacy expert (from whom I read a lot of papers for my literature review) installed poStory!
Presentation
Today I’m giving a presentation about my project at the Psychology Faculty here in Seville. Read more here.
Wish me luck!

Iterating, iterating..
We’re still tweaking the survey and thinking about another way to collect data. This time, quantitative data :)
Collecting user data
As we want to have a short design process we decided to run an initial survey to inform our design decisions. I’ll share a link here as soon as the survey is up and running.

mid-term report: done!
My mid-term report is done and I will publish it here soon. The next step is still on the making but it will be a decisive one.
I’ll keep this updated as soon as I have something more solid.

literature review + report
I’ve finished the better part of my readings and took 17 pages worth of notes and references. Ok, mostly references :)
I’m gonna start on the mid-term report due in the first week of January. Want to finish it asap so I can try and submit it to a conference somehow. Actually moving on to something other than reading and writing would be good enough.
Launch
Hey everyone, I’ve been cooking and pimping up this blog for quite a while and decided to launch it today.
Any feedback?

Contacting another user on tumblr
I’ve had this lingering issue since I saw David’s talk on EBE09 but wasn’t fast enough to ask him about it. I’m pretty new here, but there’s no evidence of tumblr supporting addressivity. It made me it sorta hack it in my theme. Have you guys thought about this?

My Master's final project
I’ve already told you this blog will also be a log of my final project.
Now I’ll explain what my project is about.
In today’s social networking sites broadcasting status updates is an exponentially growing trend. This, as everything that involves disclosing information to others, rises privacy issues. In other words, the problem I’m trying to address is: who gets to see...
Why do I have this blog?
For 3 reasons:
My thesis advisor told me I should keep a log of my work
I’m still working on my portfolio
I watched David Karp’s talk on EBE09 and thought tumblr rocked.
